2026 Governance Workshop Highlights

Department leaders and Supervisors reviewed 2025 achievements and set 2026 priorities during the Lake County Board of Supervisors’ Annual Governance Workshop.

Addenda and Utility Adjustments Propel Project

The County completed pre-construction to request $10.5 million in STIP funding, keeping the South Main Street and Soda Bay Road Widening and Bike Lanes project on schedule.

Enhancing Behavioral and Mental Health Resources

As the new year begins, LCBHS expands programs and reminds residents that 24/7 support is available through the Mobile Crisis Line and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Line.

Road Network Updates and Future Plans

Public Works shared a five-year, fiscally constrained workplan based on the practical, hands-on experience of the County Road Superintendent, road crew foremen, and other staff.

Clear Lake Restoration in Action

The Blue Ribbon Committee for the Rehabilitation of Clear Lake (BRC) coordinates restoration projects, partners with Tribal governments and agencies, secures funding, protects ecosystems, supports recreation, and strengthens Lake County’s economy and cultural heritage.

Supervising Deputy Probation Officer Roberto Morfin is recognized for his exceptional leadership, transformative impact on department operations, and deep commitment to supporting justice-involved individuals and staff alike.

Dam Decommissioning Would Jeopardize Water Supply

Decommissioning Would Reduce Reliably Stored Water Supply by at Least 53,000 Acre-Feet

The County of Lake has long opposed decommissioning of Scott Dam and the Potter Valley Project and submitted remarks to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

As the Honorable Bureau of Reclamation Acting Commissioner, Scott Cameron, noted in June 2025 testimony before the Senate Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development (Committee on Appropriations), the Department of the Interior is implementing President Trump’s Memorandum, “Putting People over Fish: Stopping Radical Environmentalism to Provide Water to Southern California.”

 

Creating another “water desert” in California would strain public resources and increase wildfire risk near Lake Pillsbury, further burdening emergency services in a region already impacted by major megafires.
