Understanding Lake County’s Natural Beauty
Clear Lake is an international treasure, and one of the oldest natural lakes in North America.
In late May, a NASA satellite image circulated widely, depicting Clear Lake in a deep green hue.
As a natural body of water, Clear Lake's water quality can vary, and County of Lake Water Resources Department and Environmental Health staff partner with Big Valley Rancheria and others to closely monitor water quality conditions and provide information needed for visitors and residents to safely enjoy water-based recreation.
The images above were recently taken by County staff. As you can see, Clear Lake is beautiful.
