Johanna DeLong was recognized for her essential role as Assistant Clerk of the Board, ensuring open and accessible government while providing trusted guidance and support to the community and the Board of Supervisors.

Celebrating Our Assistant Clerk of the Board

On November 18, 2025, Chair and District 3 Supervisor Eddie Crandell introduced District 5 Supervisor Jessica Pyska to read the proclamation recognizing Johanna DeLong during November 17–21, 2025, California Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Week.

Supervisor Pyska read from the proclamation:


“The position of the County Clerk performs many services essential to the lives of Californians and plays an integral role in the function of County government. The Clerk of the Board is a time-honored position, performing legally mandated duties that protect citizens’ rights to open and accessible government. The clerk’s record-keeping duties are revered, with their work among the earliest recorded on behalf of the public. Clerks have long pledged to maintain their neutrality and impartiality in government proceedings.”

After reading the proclamation, Supervisor Pyska said, “Johanna, you do your work with such a high degree of transparency, which we all really appreciate. It’s the law, but this builds trust in our community with our constituents and our board, so thank you for everything you do.”


Chair and Supervisor Crandell added, “Johanna, day in and day out, you keep us in line. I know you wouldn’t have organized something for yourself, so we really wanted to honor you. Thank you.”


District 1 Supervisor Helen Owen shared, “[This recognition] is well deserved. You are very much appreciated.”

DeLong humbly expressed her gratitude for the recognition: “I want to thank the community, the Board, the departments, and everyone in between who make the meetings what they are.  Everybody shows up because they care about Lake County and I am grateful to be serving you all.”


As Vice Chair and District 4 Supervisor Brad Rasmussen thanked DeLong for her work, District 2 Supervisor Bruno Sabatier shared, “Nothing moves forward without you. You are integral and likely the most informed person in this building about what happens across the county. It’s wonderful working with you. Thank you.”

Public comments also echoed the Board’s gratitude:


“I offer congratulations and thanks as a member of the public. I truly appreciate your service, professionalism, and helpfulness. County government can be bewildering with deadlines and paperwork, and you make it easier to engage with local government.  That is democracy at the most basic, thank you so, so much.”
